Why does college search say the limit was reached?
College search uses a free U.S. government API. The shared demo key allows only about 30 searches per hour per network, so it runs out quickly on school or public Wi-Fi. The app will walk you through getting your own free key. It takes about a minute at api.data.gov/signup and raises the limit to 1,000 searches per hour. Paste the key into Profile → App Settings.
Why can't I chat with the advisor on my iPhone?
The chat runs on Apple's on-device AI, which requires a recent iPhone with Apple Intelligence turned on. On other devices you can still tap any suggested question for an instant answer based on your data, or export a briefing to use with ChatGPT, Claude, or another assistant.
Are the deadlines in the app official?
No. No public database publishes per-school application deadlines, so every date in the app was either entered by you or seeded from typical dates as a starting point. Always confirm each deadline on the college's own admissions website, then mark it verified in the app.
How accurate are the Reach, Target, and Safety ratings?
They're estimates, not predictions. The app compares your GPA, test scores, and activities against each school's published admission rate and score ranges. Real admissions decisions also weigh essays, recommendations, course rigor, and context the app can't see. Use the ratings to balance your list, not to decide where you will or won't get in.
Why is some college data missing or out of date?
College information comes from public federal datasets, which typically lag by a year or two and occasionally have gaps. You can refresh a school's stats from its page, or enter figures manually in Edit College. Always verify anything important on the college's own website.
Will I lose my data if I get a new phone?
Your data lives on your device, so move it before you switch. Go to Profile → Privacy & Data → Export Backup, save the file somewhere safe, then use Import Backup on your new phone. An encrypted iPhone-to-iPhone transfer or iCloud device backup will also carry the app's data across.
How do I delete everything?
Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete All Data erases everything instantly. Deleting the app removes its data too. Since nothing is ever sent to a server, there's no account to close and nothing stored elsewhere.
Reporting a bug
Email us with your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot helps a lot. Please don't include screenshots containing information you'd rather keep private.
Requesting a feature
Tell us what you're trying to do and why the current version makes it hard. That's more useful than a specific solution, and it's how most of the app got built.
